Meeting Held Wednesday 19th October
1/ Durham County Council Road Traffic Calming Measures Members were asked for suggestions to be put forward to the County Councillor for the area for a traffic calming scheme through the yearly allocation made to them . Resolved that the following be suggested as possible schemes:- : To complete the car park to the rear of the Community Centre : Traffic calming at Russell Crescent : A mini roundabout at the junction of Station Road/Margaret Terrace/Malven Crescent : A mini roundabout at the junction of St Aidans Terrace and Station Road.
2/ Work by Probation Service Members were asked to give approval to probation/youth engagement services carrying out works in the Parish .Works would include litter picking ,sweeping up glass, cutting back bushes and general painting to seats and gates in the Recreation Area. Resolved that this partnership with youth engagement service be approved.
3/ Replacement Cricket Pavilion It was suggested that a gate be installed in existing fence line to allow easy access for the cricketers and a landscape scheme, .with picnic tables be costed for the area to the front of cabins, for use by not only cricketers but the bowlers and general public; the area would be locked overnight . Members were in agreement with this suggestion and it was resolved that these prices be obtained for these works and submitted to Members for approval.
4/ POLICE MATTERS Members of the Public are invited along to meet their Beat Officer 8th November 2pm-4pm at Trimdon Station Community Centre (Welfare) Report 57 call outs, 2 Burglaries and 15 disturbances; 1 Male had been caught and taken to court and sentenced for burglaries carried out .
5/ Firework Display The Clerk suggested that 2007 an organised firework display should be arranged by the Parish for the village. Members supported the idea but were concerned at responsibility of supervision of young people attending . Resolved that this suggestion be taken out to the parishioners via the Village Newsletter ,Local Members and web site to gauge residents views on this, bearing in mind there would be an increase in thier council tax bill to fund such a village activity.
6/ District Councillor David Chaytor carried out a site visit with Oliver Sherratt Director of Community Services to look at the facilities provided at the Recreation Ground .He had arranged for landscaping of the area where the former Cricket Pavilion had stood ,and it was asked that the cutting back of the unused play equipment be chased up as a matter of urgency.
7/ Members were circulated with a letter from a local resident ,Mr B Chatterly , regarding traffic problems in the village. Members accepted that there was a problem with the movement of traffic through the village and discussed the different ways that this problem could be tackled effectively. Resolved that the District of Easington be approached regarding the possible compulsory purchase of land to the rear of Station Road East that could be used to provide off street parking, and the Parish Council explore any avenues open to it in an attempt to address this problem.
