Trimdon United Juniors Versus Grange Town

Trimdon were playing host to Grange Town today who along with Bishop Auckland St Marys B, had the chance of promotion depending on today’s outcome. With the stakes high we were pleased to welcome Bishop to come and support the match and cheer us along.

With nerves at an all time high Trimdon start with purpose and pinned Grange Town back with several attacks, only to be denied by some great keeping and a strong defence. All this pressure should have taken its toll but unfortunately for the lads it was Grange Town who broke away and scored. Nothing keeper Tom Lawson, (covering for an injured Scott) could do. Trimdon not to be defeated by this pressed on and pulled a goal back in the form of Jack Fannon. Well done Jack. Half time score 1-1.

After the half time team talk, Trimdon continued to press on displaying a nice array of football. This paid off and we managed to take the lead with a goal from the very impressive Daz who was having a stormer. Well done Daz. The score 2-1. The celebrations were soon brought to an abrupt end when Grange Town scored again. Making the score 2-2.

With Trimdon never giving up and applying pressure we were soon celebrating again this time with an impressive run from Jonno, nicely hitting the back of the net. The score 3-2. Well done Jonno!

After this Steve decide to move things around and brought Tom Lawson out of goal to be replaced by Jonno. Tom put up front for a reason, soon made his presence felt by scoring goal number 4! Well done Tom Lawson!

After a substitution and Grange Town never giving up and still battling on, they were awarded a penalty. Everyone was feeling the tension and the pressure on Jonno however he coolly saved the penalty pushing it out. The game ended 4-2.

An impressive performance from all the team today with everyone turning out. Man of the match was Steve’s choice between Ryan who played a blinder and Casper, just as impressive. Bob Walton having the final say chose Casper and very well deserved too. Though in all fairness, all players contributed to today’s performance and therefore all who played deserved man of the match. Well done lads

Finally thanks to Bishop for coming along and supporting us and also to the parents for the constant support at every match. We would like to thank Nicola Noble, for putting on food after the match. We now look forward to our friendly with Bishop.
